This was one of the first tracks I ever recorded. Tom Ellard invited people he knew to contribute to a compilation called Oompa Loopma Riot 2015 which provided the impetus for me to actually finish something. I injured my back very badly around the turn of the millennium, which sort of forced me into retirement for a long time. It’s gotten somewhat better after a few operations, but at the time I recorded this I was going through a particularly bad patch and could barely stand. I had about six weeks, so I spent the first five planning and the last week recording. I mostly remember how painful it was. I’ve since had the nerves in my back cauterised, so while it’s still fucked up I don’t feel it so much. The song itself is a tribute to the Coburg Trash and Treasure (I recorded the background sounds at the trashy with a handheld recorder) and Tony Anthony’s eponymous 1971 Spaghetti Western. I was happy with how the song turned out which encouraged me to keep recording music. So thanks, Tom.
